7.In laser printers sorting and collating is more flexible, scaling and rotation can be done digitally which is not possible with simple copiers.

8.The exposure process is different for copiers and laser printers.

9.For copiers, a broad strip is focused onto the drum. When the drum starts working, a quartz lamp and the strip mirror moves along the original. The second strip helps the strip mirror’s movement. In this way the entire original image is captured by the rotating drum. It takes the entire image at a time. For laser printers, the negative image of the page is stored in the printers buffer memory and is read and scanned onto the drum. It takes one line at a time.

10.In copiers, the relative charges of the drum and toner are set up so that toner is drawn to the unexposed portions of the drum resulting in a positive image, but in laser printers its opposite.

In this entry – we will help you navigate the Xerox Support Portal to install the correct Xerox Drivers on your computer. We will be using the Xerox Altalink C8045 as a reference point for the download and installation of the correct Xerox Drivers.

First things first –

There are many myths that exist in the corporate copier leasing industry. Most of those myths have been created by the snakes in the copier sales industry. Snakes? I thought everyone in sales was a snake? Ha ha, very funny Cindielou-ann. Just like your used car salesman Uncle-Billie (because his daddies name was Billy and they didn’t want to get them confused) knows, not all sales people are snakes.

Xerox Versalink C405 – Error Code – 071-101

Recently we received a question on our online chat that was from a user receiving Error Code 071-101 on there Versalink C405. This individual was not an active customer – just someone needing help.

Description
Tray 1 Miss Feed Jam/ Option Regi On Jam After a paper was fed from Tray 1, it did not reach the Registration Sensor.

Causes
• Turn Roller Assembly, PL 2.2.1 • Feed Roller Clutch, PL 2.2.8 • Tray 1 Feed Roller Kit, PL 2.2.99 • Registration Sensor, PL 5.1.3 • Bypass Tray Turn Roller, PL 5.1.8 • Turn Roller Clutch, PL 5.1.9 • Paper Handling Motor (P/H Drive Assembly), PL 11.1.19 • MCU PWB, PL 12.1.15 • Paper Jam Sensor, PL 15.2.3 • Feeder PWB, PL 15.2.3

Remedy
1. Check the installation of Tray 1. Is Tray 1 installed properly?
Go to step 2.
Reinstall Tray 1. 2. Check the paper transport path. Is there any debris found on the paper transport path? Remove the debris from the paper transport path. Go to step 3. 3. Check the installation of the Feed Rollers. Are the Feed Rollers installed properly? Go to step 4. Reinstall the Feed Rollers. 4. Check the Feed Rollers. Are the Feed Rollers deformed or worn out? Replace the Feed Rollers. Go to step 5. 5. Check the Registration Sensor operation. Perform DC330 Component Control [071-102] to check the operation of the Registration Sensor. Is the Registration Sensor operating normally? Go to step 6. Go to Registration Sensor. 6. Check the Turn Roller Clutch operation. Perform DC330 Component Control [071-016] to check the operation of the Turn Roller Clutch. Is the Turn Roller Clutch operating properly? Go to step 7. Go to Turn Roller Clutch. 7. Check the Feed Roller Clutch operation. Perform DC330 Component Control [071-015] to check the operation of the Feed Roller Clutch. Is the Feed Roller Clutch operating properly? Go to step 8. Go to Feed Roller Clutch. 8. Check the Paper Handling (P/H) Motor operation. Perform DC330 Component Control [071-009] to check the operation of the P/H Motor. Is the P/H Motor operating normally? • When the Optional Tray is not installed, replace the MCU PWB. • When the Optional Tray is installed, go to step 9. Go to Paper Handling Motor. 9. Check the Paper Jam Sensor operation (Tray 2). Perform DC330 Component Control [071-125] to check the operation of the Paper Jam Sensor. Is the Paper Jam Sensor operating normally? Replace the MCU PWB. Go to Paper Jam Sensor.

Empty Your Xerox Waste Toner Container on a Versalink

Let’s help you empty this Xerox Waste Toner Container
*NOTE: The processing of temporarily emptying the Waste Toner Container is not recommended by Xerox or Xerox Support. Please take this information at your own risk (we have to say that in case you do something wrong and break your machine. =)

How To: Empty Xerox Waste Toner Container for a Versalink 

Works with:
Versalink C7020/C7025/C7030 & WorkCentre 7220/7225/7120/7125

Things you will need:
Pliers, trash bag, rubber gloves, razor blade, super glue or packing tape, and rags/paper towels.

Step 1 –
Open the door underneath the output tray of the Xerox Versalink to reveal the waste toner container.

Step 2:
Remove the waste toner container and place it in the plastic bag

Step 3:
Use pliers and remove the white plug.

Step 4:
Place Waste Toner Container in sealed bag and empty.
Do your best to temporary seal the bag, so no toner dust fills the air.

Now Gently Shake the whole Xerox waste toner container.
Continue gently shaking until most of the powder has stopped falling. 

Step 5:
Allow waste toner container to rest for a minute to settle dust.

Step 6:
Re-insert White Plug
Upon reopening the bag you will need to use those rubber gloves and rags to wipe up any excess toner that has touched the outside of the waste toner container. Afterwards, y
ou will need to re-insert the plug that was removed. (Tape may be required to hold the cap in place.)


Step 7:
Remove and clean clean plastic sensor window.
After the waste toner has been emptied, you will need to clean the sensor that the Versalink checks to see if it is full or not. The Sensor looks inside of the clear plastic square to check the waste toner containers level. Versalink Waste Toner Container Sensor Cover

The goal is to not only empty the container, but also clean the clear plastic area so that the sensor reads the xerox waste toner container as not full.

How to Remove Clean Plastic Sensor Square: 

Using the razor blade, safely peel back the clear plastic square.
Please be careful when doing this – toner may spill and make a mess. Even worse, if you do not seal the waste toner container back correctly before reinstall, the toner may spill inside the machine. This would make a very large mess.

Clean Out any toner underneath
Clean this out and use a rag to clean the clear plastic square.

Reinsert the square with either super glue, or tape to hold it in place.
After the waste toner container has been cleaned, reinsert into the Versalink and the device should function again.


More Info….
There might come a time that you forget to order your Xerox waste Toner Container and the Xerox copier or printer completely stops working and doesn’t let you proceed with printing, copying, or scanning. Sometimes, this is because your waste toner cartridge has become full.

The copy machine will stop functioning altogether when the waste container is full of…well waste toner. You will see an error message on the display screen telling you that you need to replace the waste container. Unfortunately, someone forgot to order your replacement Xerox waste toner container (Xerox Part #115R00128). But don’t worry, we here at USA Copier Lease have come across this problem for years and have a temporary solution for you.

Xerox Color C60 – Build Job Scanning

This guide was created to help you be able to scan multiple documents into one PDF. This feature exists on the Xerox C60/C70 and is called Build Job or Job Assembly (old Xerox term). 

When to use the Build Job Feature:

The build job feature on the Xerox C60 is most commonly used for organizations that need to scan in multiple different documents and be able to save them as one file type. The most common file type is PDF.

Think of this feature as a pause button to when you are scanning. Pausing the scan job allows you to add more scans to the one overall job you want to scan in.

Other reasons to use the Build Job Feature:

– Scan document of different sizes that cannot be fed and scanned together
– Scan a collection of documents that require a mix of Document Feeder and Document Glass scanning
– Scan more documents than the Document Feeder can hold at one time
– Apply different image quality or image modification features to different scan documents

*Note: This feature is available on all the different ways the Xerox can scan. IE- Scan to Email, Scan to SMB, WorkFlow Scanning, ETC

How to use the Build Job Feature:

Once you have determined the order in which you want to scan the documents, it is best practice to keep them close by your Xerox C60 when scanning the entire build job.

Place the first piece of media on either the top document feeder or on the glass.

Then select the way in which you want to scan. In our example, we will be using the Scan to Email function of the Xerox C60.

Press the GREEN BUTTON on the Xerox to start the scan job.

You will need to quickly press the “Next Original” button that will appear on the LCD panel. Once you press this button, it is essentially a PAUSE to your scan job.

Now you will need to insert your next document you wish to scan and press the big GREEN BUTTON again.

*IMPORTANT NOTE- If you have different sizes, scan requirements, enlarging, etc…you can change these settings on the next scanned document by pressing the “CHANGE SETTINGS” button on the LCD screen. This is super helpful if you need to scan something in only black and white or specific paper size.

We have multiple customers that use MAC’s (Apple Computers) in their work environment and need Xerox Standard Accounting to track the page type and count printed by each user. Xerox Altalink and WorkCentre 7855 ‘s (family) have Xerox Standard Accounting included. This was written to help our smaller realtor offices setup Standard Accounting on their MAC’s.

First things First - Driver Find

Let’s make sure you get the right driver for your Xerox
Go to Google and type in your model + driver and let Google do the rest.

If you click the right link (make sure you click the one that starts with support.xerox.com……

Second Step - Download Driver

You need to download the driver that is correct for your Xerox system –

If you don’t know with Associated product you have, chances are you have a “built-in controller”. If your Xerox has a Fiery Logo on the LCD panel when you walk up to copy something, then you need to select the EFI controller option.

Next you need to select the correct operating system and language.
Download and Install

Third Step - 
Configuring the MAC Driver for Standard Accounting

Hopefully you got the driver installed okay.
Next- we will need to configure the driver for standard accounting.
Go to the printers properties and you should see this screen –

Have you noticed that the Xerox Versalink doesn’t seem to have the same web interface on the Xerox Altalinks?
This is because the Xerox Versalink model has a different engine/computer board inside of it which usually makes it easier for the customer to navigate and make simple changes. However if you are here, then it is probably because you can’t figure out how to not make your Versalink Duplex by default.

Recently we worked with one of our customers on how to turn off Duplexing on the Versalink. So with that, let’s jump in.

How to: Turn off Duplexing

First we need to get into the settings menu of the computer –
Click the start option and then click the gear icon or settings.

Finding the setting menu in Windows

Next it should open you up into this menu –
Click on Printers and Scanners.-

Then find the Versalink and click it.
Click Manage.

The window will expand and you will see the below.
Click on Printing preferences.

Here you will see the 2-sided printing option.
Click 2-Sided Printing and change to 1-Sided Print.

Make sure you change this to 1 sided.

Then Click Ok.

Xerox SMart eSolutions Communication Error

Xerox Copiers and Printers can submit their meter reads directly to Xerox using an available internet connection. This is available for certain applications and certain maintenance plans. Quite often, the device is unable to communicate with the Xerox servers over the internet and displays the error message “SMart eSolutions communication error”

If you are one of our customers you don’t need to worry about this. Your meter reads are submitted via the Xerox Device Agent (XDA) that is installed on a computer in your network. So, there is no need for the devices to have  SMart eSolutions enabled and showing you the annoying error. SMart eSolutions can be disabled to remove the error message.

To Disable this message:
– Open up Internet Explorer (or Chrome) and type in the IP Address of the Xerox Device
– Then click the login button at the top of the page.
– Default Username – Admin – Default Password – 1111
– Then Click the Properties Button
– Then expand General Setup
– Then SMart eSolutions
– Then Select “Not Enrolled
– Save and Exit.
– A reboot of the device may be required to make the error message go away.

Error Message: Xerox Invalid Hostname

Scan to Email on a Xerox can be a tricky thing. There are a few settings that need to be changed in order for it to work properly. If you followed the article HERE on how to setup Gmail as your scan to email and now you are receiving the error “Invalid Hostname”, here is how you fix it.

Using the web portal, go to the Centreware Control Panel.
  – Go to Connecticity
  – Then Setup
  – Then TCP/IP Settings
  – Then DNS

Inside the DNS Settings
  – Requested Host Name is filed out by Default 
  – Requested Domain Name is blank by Default 
      – Type = WORKGROUP
  – Scroll down to DNS Server Address

     – Type in the first blank 8.8.8.8
     – Type in the second blank xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (the same ip address of your DNS server – which is probably your default gateway for your router/modem)

Reboot the device and you should be able to scan to email now.

Xerox C60 Duplex Printer with Fiery EX-i

One of our customers recently upgrade their WorkCentre 7855 for a Xerox Color C60 with Internal Fiery. They have about 100 users printing which makes the device constantly active.

They reached out to us because some of the basic features like double sided printing (duplex), multiple page print, and gray-scale were not functioning properly when the users tried to print from Word.

We worked with them via a remote session and determined that the Word “settings” were not changing the C60 devices setting. In order to change some of the settings, they must be done in the full properties dialog box.

To Print Duplex Jobs in the Xerox Color C60:
 1.  In your application, click File > Print and select the Fiery Server as your printer.
 2.  Open the Full Properties dialog box.
 3.  Click the Layout icon.
 4.  Select one of the duplex settings:

  • Print the top of the image on Side 1, on the same edge of the page as the top of the image on Side 2.

How to setup Scan to Email with Gmail on Xerox Altalink

There is a lot of information out there on how to setup scan to email using GMAIL on your Xerox Altalink Device. We setup scan to email with a Xerox Altalink about once a week. There are different steps needed depending on your email provider. We have found that one of the easiest and fastest ways to configure Scan to Email on a Xerox Altalink, is by using GMAIL as the sender. 

Below are the steps you should follow if having issues setting up scan to email on a Xerox Altalink.


**VERY IMPORTANT FIRST STEP**
Log into your Gmail account as the administrator and Allow for less secure apps.
Link on how to change account access for less secure apps.


 

1. Login to Centreware Control Panel
(Using the IP address of the Xerox, type it in a web browser)
as the Administrator
(Default Username: Admin | Default Password: 1111).

2. Click on the [Properties] tab.

3. Enter the login name in the User ID field, and the password in the Password field.

NOTE: The default login name is “admin”, and the default password is “1111″.

4. Click on the [Login] button. The Configuration Overview window will be displayed.

5. Click on [Connectivity] to expand the list of options.

6. Click on [Protocols] to expand the list.

7. Click on [SMTP Server]. The Require Information tab will be displayed.

8. Select the [Static] radio button next to SMTP Server Setup.

9. Enter smtp.Gmail.com in the SMTP Server IP Address / Host Name field.

10. Enter 587 or 465 for a Port in the Port Number for sending E-mail / Internet fax.

NOTE: Port 587 should be used by default and if there are any issues use Port 465. If any failed reports indicating connection issues, these ports may need to be verified that they are not being blocked on the network.

11. From the SMTP – SSL / TLS Communication pull-down, select [SSL / TLS] from the list.

12. Enter the Gmail e-mail address in the Machine’s E-mail Address field. The format should be the full e-mail address such as username@gmail.com.

13. Enter the full e-mail address in the Login Name field.

14. Enter the password for the Gmail account in the fields provided.

15. Select the [System] radio button under the Login Credentials for E-mail Send section.

16. Click the [Apply] button.


The above steps should work for you to configure your Xerox Altalink Scan to Email features, using GMAIL as your mail sender. 

You will then need to go into the address book and add the email addresses for each person that will needs scan to email.

 **NOTE**
If you are having issues, under the connectivity settings of the IPv4 address there is a field labeled “Domain”. There needs to be something in this blank. I suggest using the domain.com of the company – example : gmail.com.

Printing Tyvek Wristbands with Xerox

Okay, so we have a lot of clients with different printing requirements and questions. And we always go to the utmost level when a customer has a specific question regarding one of our Xerox Printers.

Recently, a customer had a specific requirement to print Tyvek Wristbands at higher speeds then they were currently achieving. You see, this customer was using a HP Ink Jet to print Tyvek Wristbands. This is a very slow process and requires a person to manually feed the printer one piece of paper at a time. – Hence this takes TIME.


With this being said, we need a solution for printing on Tyvek Wristbands.


First, We attempted to print on Tyvek Wristbands with a Xerox Altalink C8070 . This falsely appeared to work because when you print a single page of the Tyvek Wristband, it appears to work. The customer did not need a multifunction device to print Tyvek Wristbands because they were never going to copy, just print.

Second, we attempted to print on the Xerox Phaser 7800. Again, single page worked fine. Printing two pages, worked fine. Trying to print three pages in a row….caused the printer to jam while printing on Tyvek. Once it jammed, the Tyvek melted onto the fuser, destorying it.

Even after cleaning the fuser assembly, rollers, and other internal pieces thorougly, the Xerox Phaser 7800 was continously throwing error codes of a jam….that didn’t actually exist.

Pushing aside the Phaser 7800 for failing to print on Tyvek Wristbands, we still needed a solution. All the specifications on Tyvek say it can’t get above a certain temperature and has to be carefully handled.

Finally, we then decided to try the Xerox ColorQube 8580 for printing on Tyvek Wristbands. The Xerox ColorQube has a much lower fusing point, because the wax actually softens and then adheres to the paper. SUCCESS! The ColorQube worked perfectly and passed all the tests. The Tyvek Wristbands did not melt going through the fuser.

XEROX – Network Time Protocol (NTP) Communication error

How to fix the NTP Communication error on your Xerox.

Here is a brief conversation that I had with one of our customers in regards the NTP communication error on their Xerox.


Customer:
Hey Guys,
I keep getting this error message on both printer.  I’m not sure how to fix this!
Network Time Protocol (NTP) communication error; machine time may be inaccurate. User intervention is required to verify Network Time Protocol server settings, operability, and machine time. The machine is available.

Hi Steve,
This usually has to do with the time being set different then the server time. Let me look into this and I’ll get back to you.
One suggestion is check the time settings in the Xerox for the correct time zone.

Customer:
Thanks Guys,
I went in and corrected the time on the printers and that seems to have fixed the error!


The error was caused by the ‘times’ being different on the network devices / printers / servers. If you run into this issue. Check the time zone of the devices.



**UPDATE March 15, 2018***
A lot of people are asking about this NTP error and viewing this page.
Here is another things to check if you are still having this issue:

Check the DNS settings. You may need to add an alternate DNS entry in the Xerox settings that you know isn’t causing an error else where. Example: Google’s DNS server. This error is triggered by the Xerox and the DNS being at least 3 minutes in difference from one another.

Xerox C60 Scanning Multiple TIFF Pages to Single File

Recently, one of our customers had an issue when scanning in TIFF files to their server. We were able to resolve the issue with the below scenario.

The Problem:
Customer scanning in TIFF files to server. If the customer scans in a document that has 15 pages, each page is being saved individually. On the Xerox C60, under the scan format settings, the box is unchecked to save each page individually.

The Solution:
Turns out the TIFF file format needed to changed from TIFF V6 to TTN2. These are the steps it took in order for multipage scans to scan as a single, multipage file:
1. Log in as admin on printer
2. Press ‘Machine Status’
3. Go to Tools -> Scan Service Settings under Group -> Other Settings under Features
4. Highlight ‘TIFF Format’ and tap on ‘Change Settings’
5. Tap on ‘TTN2’ and Save

Incompatible Toner Message on Xerox Copiers

Are you seeing the Incompatible Toner Message on your Xerox?Toner Incompatible Xerox Don’t stress. This message on a Xerox happens. I am going to break this down in two sections for you, one if you have a supplies contact and the other if you don’t.
I have a supplies contact
The Xerox Copier/Printer is telling me my supplies aren’t compatible.  This can be fixed. Here’s how: – Check to make sure these supplies came from your Xerox supply contract provider and not a 3rd party – like Amazon or Staples. * If they did not come from your service provider, then this is where your problem is. – Now that we have confirmed that these are from your service provider, there should be a software running someone in your environment on either a PC  or Windows Server. – Check to make sure this Xerox Device Agent software is up and running. * If you can’t find this software or can’t find it running – contact your Xerox Service Provider.  – If the software is running, make sure that it can see your Xerox Copier / Printer – Turn the Xerox completely off, use both power buttons (2nd one is located inside the door where the toners are located) – Wait 5 minutes after complete power off – Turn Xerox back on – Go to computer in which the Xerox Device Agent Software is installed and press the “Synchronize Now” button located on the left hand side – After Successful Synchronization, software should show the unit in question with a green check mark – The Xerox Copier should now display properly and all functions should return to normal. – If not, you will probably need to delete the printers from the software and re-add them and synchronize again. *This typically has to happen when the devices MAC address is changed after a device relocation.
 
I don't have a supply contracts
I bought my supplies from Amazon / Staples, why is it telling me? – Well you see, that’s an easy answer. This means one of two things – 1.  –  Your supplies are metered supplies or 2.  – Your Xerox is in metered mode. To Fix your metered supplies – Send them back. That’s really the only option. To Fix your metered Xerox – Call whoever you bought the machine from and tell them you need the Xerox to be in Standard Supply mode. This will usually result in a service technician to come onsite and switch the mode for you.

New Ransomware Designed to Attack Konica Minolta Copier/MFP


Hackers have created another another exploit to infect computers via a security flaw in Konica Minolta copiers.

A very large I.T. Security Firm has reported that hackers have begun new ransomware attacks using Konica Minolta copier/MFP’s. This ransomware infects users’ PCs, encrypts their files, and then demands a ransom of between 0.5 to one Bitcoin ($4,000 U.S.)) to un-encrypt the computer. The Konica Minolta ransomware attacks are said to have been able to evade machine-learning and algorithm-based security tools.

 

The security firm calls this latest variant of encrypted ransomware “IKARUSdilapidated,” with the attack said to have originated from  hackers in China, North Korea, Afghanistan, and Indonesia. Users in Japan, The United Kingdom, Europe ,and the Americas are said to be the targets, as well as users in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.

 

Most of the ransomware attacks took the form of an email that’s said to mimic emails generated by the Konica Minolta Scan to Email function, which users often use to scan a document and then have the MFP email the scanned document to themselves. The email subject line contained the subject line “Message from KM_****” and contains a malicious attachment. Other emails are said to take the form of fake invoice statements, with subject lines reading “Status of invoice.”


“These types of attacks utilize both botnets of servers and individuals’ PCs, and new phishing techniques using social engineering for unsuspecting office workers and managers. This enables a very small team of hackers to infiltrate thousands of organizations and beat A.I. and machine learning-dependent endpoint protection tools, even those leading in Gartner’s recent Magic Quadrant.”– said CEO of a large I.T. Security Firm


According to experts who wish to remain nameless, this  new wave of Konica Minolta ransomware attacks used a botnet of zombie computers (usually connected to network through well-known Internet service providers) to coordinate a phishing attack that sent the emails to victims’ email accounts.

These emails includes the scanner/printer model number belonging to the Konica Minolta C224e, one of the most popular MFPs used in Europe, South America, North America, and Asia.

Two ransomware campaigns started on September 18, 2017 and have not yet appeared to stop, with further attacks expected in the near future.

Ransomware attackers have created an email and file designed to look like a legitimate scanned document from a Konica Minolta MFP, however, the file does not come from a Konica Minolta MFP and does not contain a scanned document; instead, it contains a ransomware payload. Users who receive a file purporting to be a scanned document from an unknown email address should confirm the identity of the sender before they open the file.

How To: Disable the Banner Page on Versalink C7020/7025/7030

By default, the Xerox Versalink C7000 (and B7000) series device is configured to print a banner page with each print job. The banner page contains information identifying the user and job name. You can set this option on/off in the print driver on your computer and/or you can default this option on/off in the Embedded Web Server.


How To Manage Banner Sheets on a Xerox Versalink:

Type the IP address of Xerox device into address bar of any internet browser to bring up Xerox Centreware Web Page for your device. (click here for how to find your IP address of your Versalink)

Log in as administrator ( Username: admin  Password: 1111 )

Click System.

Click Defaults & Policies.

Scroll down and you will see a section called Printer Settings.
Click Printer Banner Pages

Here are the recommended settings to turn off Banner Pages.
Disable Banner Pages on Versalink

Click Close to save the settings.

Helpful Tip: If you have done all of these steps and your Versalink is still printing banner pages, then you need to make sure that the option for "Allow Print Driver to Override" is set to disable. This gives the Xerox priority to determine if the banner sheets are on or off.

What are my options if a Hurricane or Flood destroyed my copier?

Loss is never something anyone wants and frankly most people don’t even expect loss to occur. As business owners, we often find ourselves learning ‘something new’ every day.

The information provided below is directed towards floor-standing copiers, but also extends to other technology equipment that all business have.


Leased Copy Machines
– The leasing company that holds the copier lease (not necessarily the same people that services the copier) requires insurance to be kept on the copy machine during the lease. If the customer did not purchase insurance from a 3rd party, the leasing company will have insurance on the copier.
– If a customer chose not to pay the extra dollars per month to the leasing company for insurance on the copier, they probably put a specific rider on their business insurance policy to cover the copier. If this is the case, the customer needs to check with their insurance broker to see if flood damage is covered for leased office equipment.
– If somehow no insurance existed for the copier, then the customer needs to contact FEMA regarding leased business equipment being effected due to flood.

Client Owned Copiers
– In some cases, a business will have Electronic Data Processing (EDP) Coverage which will cover a certain dollar amount for computer related items that were listed out on the policy.
– If a total loss of use occurred resulting from a Hurricane and the business is in an area FEMA has declared a disaster area, then the customer needs to fill out the necessary paperwork to FEMA for reimbursement and/or a business loan for new equipment.


Either way, if your business copier was lost, we can provide certification stating that your copier was destroyed due to flooding. This process is simple and in some cases does not require onsite visitation.

Upon competition of this certificate, you do not have any obligation to go back to your existing vendor. This might be a blessing in disguise if you wanted to make a change before the Hurricane.

Xerox WorkCentre 7225 Error Notice Postscript

Have you received the following Xerox WorkCentre 7225 Error Notice – “The job was not printed because the PostScript option is not enabled. Contact System Administrator to enable PostScript on this device?”

First of all, this happens when you are trying to print to the Xerox WorkCentre 7225 with out the Post Script Kit Installed. The Post Script Kit is a small add on for the WorkCentre 7225.


Do I need a Adobe PostScript Kit for my Xerox?

 

You’ll need the PS option installed if there will be Macs used. Macs require PS to be installed for all printing.
You’ll need the PS option installed if you wish to print PDF’s directly from the USB thumb drive. PDF scanning is default, but viewing & printing PDF’s directly from the USB thumb drive requires PS kit. Printing JPEG, PCL files directly from USB is default.
You’ll need the PS option installed if you want full compatibility & further color matching options when using any Adobe product. Adobe owns/produces PS, so its designed for their software. While PCL will print pretty much all Adobe product software, but it will take longer to convert, often has image quality issues (such as pixelization), and will not be color matched. The PS option is just an emulation, its not a true PS.

Finally, having the PS option installed in an environment that doesn’t have Macs (or Linux & Unix O/S) as their computers, only gives you the option of having both PS & PCL drivers installed, with the extra ability of further driver options for color matching & Adobe software product full compatibility. The same document printed in PCL & PS will convert differently, with slightly different colors.


Therefore, If you have determined you do not need the PostScript Kit, then follow the steps below for fixing this error.

Steps to perform a change to the Versalink Network Settings

 

– Go to the device’s LCD screen and press “Device”

– Ethernet should say Connected – If not make sure the device is plugged into a working switch port.

How to Fix Error Code 1406 While Installing XDA / Page Connect

Whenever trying to install the Xerox Device Agent (XDA) or Xerox Page Connect on your PC or laptop, a user could get an error code 1406. This error is not related Xerox. It is a Windows error that is most seen on Windows 8. One of the most common reasons is that the setup cannot write the value Assembly to the registry key. This error can occur on any device that uses Windows as an operating system and most often occurs when someone tries to install a piece of software.

This error code looks like this:

 

Methods to fix Windows Error Code 1406 while installing XDA / Page Connect

Below you will find a few methods to fix the error, try these methods in order listed here.

Method 1: Running the Application as Administrator

Sometimes this error occurs due to the application running process. So at first, try to fix it by using this method:

  • Right click on the application .exe file;
  • Click on the option Run as administrator;
  •  
    Run as Administrator

    Method 2: Perform a Clean Boot

    The Error Code 1406 also can be fixed by performing a clean boot and re-installing the XDA software.

    To perform a clear boot in your version of Windows follow the instructions:
     
    Windows Xp, Vista and 7

  • Log into your computer using Administrator rights (Administrator account).
  • Click on Start, type msconfig.exe in the Search box, and then press Enter.
  • Click on General tab, click on the Selective startup option, and then click on the option to clear the Load startup items.
  • Click on Services tab, click on the Hide all Microsoft services option, and then click on Disable all.
  • Finally, click OK and Restart.
  •  
    Windows 8 and 8.1

  • Tap on Search.
  • Type msconfig, and then click on msconfig.
  • Click on General tab, click on the Selective startup option, and then click on the option to clear the Load startup items.
  • Click on Services tab, click on the Hide all Microsoft services option, and then click on Disable all.
  • Click on the Startup tab in task manager. Select Each Startup item and click Disable.
  • Close Task Manager and in the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box.
  • Finally, Click OK and Restart.
  • Now, re-install the software after the reboot. If the issue is still happening and you are still getting an error code 1406 while installing PageConnect, then try to perform the next method. 
     

    Method 3: Provide full permission to software

    If you tried the methods above and the problem is not fixed, then you should try to give full permission to the XDA software. Sometimes the Xerox software doesn’t have full permission and is not able to complete the setup. Follow the steps below to provide a full permission:

  • Click on the Search Tab, and type regedit and press enter.
  • After opening the Registry Editor, On the left side list look for the location provided in the error status bar.
  • For Example – location shown in the error starts with Software\
  • Look for the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\…
  • After locating the final location provided in the error, right click on the open folder that is present in the left side list. Click on Permission.
  •  

  • Select the Administrators group and now click under the Allow Checkbox in front of Full Control.
  • Select the SYSTEM group and verify that Full Control is selected under the Allow column.
  • In the permission dialog box, click on Advanced.
  •  

     

  • Click on the Owner tab and select the Administrators group and the option Replace Owner On Subcontainers And Objects, and click OK.
  •  

     

  • Click on the Permissions tab –> select the option Replace all child object permission with inheritable permissions from this object.
  • Click OK.
  • Now Close all the window and try to re-install the application or software again.
  • If the problem still persist, Reboot the system and retry the installation.
  •  
    If the issue still persists and you are still getting an error code 1406 while installing the XDA Software / Page Connect, then further assistance from a IT professional is needed.
